Full description

The Rolls-Royce Phantom II replaced the Phantom I in 1929. The Phantom II was the last model that Henry Royce designed himself.

The engine in the second generation Phantom was a refined version of the 7.7L, in-line 6-cylinder, also found on its predecesor. Its balance and silance in second to none, even by today’s standards. Power output was never quoted by the factory in those years, Rolls-Royce merely stated engine power as „sufficient”. It is estimated bo be around 118 hp. Transmission was achived by a 4-speed manual gearbox, with synchromesh on 3rd and 4th gears. Later, from 1945, also on 2nd.

The model used bodies built by famous coachbuilders like Park Ward, Thrupp, Heanly and Hopper and Windovers. Windovers, a highly respected London coachbuilders, with origins dating to 1600, were saddlers and harness-makers until the onset of the Industrial Revolution, when they engaged in carriage and coach building. Windover-built carriages developed a loyal following and were in evidence throughout the British Empire, as well as the royal households of England and other European locales. As the motoring age dawned, Windover was a natural choice to produce bodies for the top marques, including Rolls-Royce and Bentley.

The terms Sedanca and Sedanca de ville were introduced by Spanish nobleman Count Carlos de Salamanca, the Spanish distributor for Rolls-Royce, in 1923. Sedanca de ville refers to a town car variant, and Sedanca refers to a sedanca coupe.

A similar Phantom II was ordered on 19th of October 1933 for delivery in 1934 to Colonel Harry Day of London, Member of Parliament and lifelong friend of and agent of famous escapologist Harry Houdini.

A Rolls-Royce Phantom II makes an appereance in the 1983 James Bond movie Octopussy, driven by villain Khamal Khan.

This car has won the anual Romanian Concours D’Elegance held in Sinaia in 2013 and 4 years later, in 2017, it won “Best of Show” in the Elegance Contest “Alla Corte dei Medici” held in Florence.
