Chevrolet Corvette (50th Anniversary) 2003

The Anniversary Edition package contains a major technical advance, called Magnetic Selective Ride Control, it works with a computer and uses a unique damper design that controls wheel and body motion with special shock absorber fluid. This 50^th Anniversary Corvette convertible has been part of the Ed Foss Collection.

2003 was a significant milestone for the Chevrolet as they celebrated their 50th anniversary since the first Corvette was unveiled at the 1953 Motorama in New York City's Waldorf Astoria Hotel.  Chevrolet commemorated this milestone with a distinctive 50^th Anniversary edition made available on the fifth generation coupés and convertibles, a notable exception being the Z06 fixed roof coupé. The special package included unique Red “Xirallic Crystal” exterior paint, unique front fender emblems, Champagne-painted aluminium wheels and center caps in the shade of Champagne. The 1953 Corvette came only with "Polo White" paint and a red interior, but Chevrolet felt white would be too plain for the 50th anniversary model. It also includes embroidered logos on the seat headrests and leather padding on the inside door pull handles and armrests. Significantly, a 50th Anniversary Corvette coupé was used as a safety car in 2002 Indianapolis 500. This 50th Anniversary Corvette convertible has been part of the Ed Foss Collection since 2004.
